To My Valentine…

Some people have a weakness for jewelry, others prefer lingerie or a romantic dinner… I love vintage french erotica. Here are some of my favorites.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day

To Gloria Aurora Daal, who here at age 4, in her late teens and now in her early 80s was and continues to be the epitome of class and style. A truly remarkable woman, generous in spirit always doing things to give back to those less fortunate and taking up causes that promoted the arts and culture on the island of her birth, Curacao.

She was a woman ahead of her time… entrepreneurial, influential and fluent in several languages with a fierce independent streak that still has us running to keep up with her. We admire her strength and the incredible energy she possesses for life.

Oma, we love you and hold you very dear. Happy Mother’s Day!

I don’t know who you are, but I love you.

The answer a man suffering from Alzheimer’s gave his wife when she asked,

“Do you remember who I am?”

When I first heard this program on the radio (first aired on 2/29/09) I was so moved by how lucid this man was. He knew he was losing his identity but not his essence. It is what Eckhart Tolle calls “forgetfulness of Being” where our attachment to our identities is what makes us mourn. After all we can never lose our very reason for existing — that is to love.

I don’t personally know anyone with Alzheimer’s but I was inspired to learn more about the human stories behind the disease and the creative ways for families to reinvent new ways to communicate with one another. To learn more about psychologist, Alan Dienstag’s writing group with early Alzheimer’s patients visit Speaking of Faith.
